“For two years, Jamie has been an inspirational and dedicated voice teacher for both of my boys, Sammy and Michael. She has shown flexibility and determination in teaching Michael, a sophomore at UA High School, using a broad variety of music, from folk to rock. Plus, she helped Sammy, a 7th grader at Jones Middle School land a lead role in his middle school musical, The Little Mermaid, JR. He couldn’t have done it without her skilled guidance and hard work.”

“Over the last year and a half, Jamie has made a tremendous difference in my 3rd/4th grade daughter's ability to learn about her voice, explore her vocal range, learn basic piano skills, and gain confidence as a singer. Jamie has a natural way with students that is engaging at their level and provides them the necessary support, encouragement and constructive criticism needed
helps to help them achieve their goals. We highly recommend Jamie for vocal and piano instruction.”
“I am Dr. Kathleen Stone a Professor Emeritus of The Ohio State University. I have been a voice student of Ms. Jamie Massa for the past 15 months. At the age of 68 years, I am a senior among Ms. Massa's students. While I have been in a Church Choir for the past 15 years, I have the severe limitation of being unable to read music. Ms. Massa is an exceptional teacher. She is so inspiring. She started with my love for music and has moved me forward leaps and bounds. She has taught me sight reading. She has provided me with numerous interesting warm-ups. She has encouraged me to attempt classical, light opera, christian, and broadway music. She has supported me to sing solo in her home and at formal recitals. I had never sung solo in my life. She was so encouraging and supportive during those first very nervous experiences before an audience. She has also paired me with one of her other students to do a duet. She is so supportive. She has so much insight regarding what a student needs to go to the next level. My fellow choir members have complemented me on my vocals. She truly “cares” for each student. During our recitals, I have been so impressed by the accomplishments for her younger students. She personally knows and cherishes each of her students. She is truly an insightful, supportive, exceptional teacher.”

First, I would like to begin by stating no amount of words can do justice to the wonderful help of Mrs Massa. Her lessons are simultaneously enjoyable and challenging, but most importantly free of pressure. Mrs Massa creates a educational environment that promotes growth and musical freedom. She does not pressure but rather encourages. Through her, I have found myself not only growing as a musician and singer, but becoming more confident in my musical self and as an artist in general. As an actor, I had to audition for several college programs in order to be considered. Because of this, I would often find myself spending hours in her studio preparing. Not only was she professional and absolutely crucial to my success, she was kind and comforting. She would sit me down and say, "Chris, you have to walk into that room with your head held high knowing that you are meant for their program, and that they would be lucky to have you. You have to walk in believing there is no one who is more prepared and more talented." Mrs Massa doesn't accept no for an answer. If something isn't working vocally or musically she won't force you to try and try again because she understands negotiation and artistic conversation. She will find a new way to approach the problem utilizing a different technique so you can overcome this obstacle. Mrs Massa's studio isn't only educational, but she provides opportunities to perform which grow who you are as a performer as well.
Chris Chene is an 18 year old senior from Upper Arlington who has studied voice for 2 years. He will be going to Carnegie Mellon in Pittsburg as a Theatre Major.
“My name is Robert Voyles, I am a Senior at Hilliard Darby High school in Hilliard, OH. I have been studying singing as a tenor with Mrs. Massa for about 10 months. In this time, I have developed from a fresh inductee into my school's symphonic choir into a College-ready musician who is preparing to major in voice at OU next year. Mrs. Massa has always been accommodating to my personal talents and interests in music. After beginning to study with her, I quickly started to see the potential I had underneath that was just waiting for proper engagement. Mrs. Massa and I took the initiative and made my senior year into a learning process that culminated in a recital that I performed for my senior Capstone Project, which is something I never would have been brave enough or prepared for without her guidance. The day after my recital, she and I went to Ohio University to audition for the OU Music Department, which she arranged for me courteously. I am very pleased to say that I was immediately accepted after performing two difficult songs, rehearsed to perfection. She also coached me on sight reading and interview skills, which helped when I met with the chairs of the department. I felt completely confident in my abilities because of her and I can assure you equal success should you hire her. A teacher who can fine tune the musicality of their students on a personal level and inspire them to work for more than they thought they were capable of is an investment that will continue to pay itself back over and over again, as I have come to know from Mrs. Massa's dedicated and honest hard work.
I continue to prepare for College with her, now studying both piano and voice. Having been taught by music teachers who left me at the wayside and approached me with detached engagement before, there is certainly something to be said about someone who challenges you and pushes you to achieve more. Mrs. Massa has done exactly that, and I am confident that you will be getting plenty emails full of praise akin to this one should you choose to partner with such a professional and gifted woman as she.”
“I started as a student with Jamie when she taught “Class Voice” at the McConnell Arts Complex in Worthington. This was a fun class where I learned the basics of singing and got to pick songs I loved to do on our final class. We invited friends and family and sang our songs for them at the last class! I’ve since started as a private student with Jamie, studying both voice and piano. She doesn't rush you, teaches you at your own pace and makes you feel very comfortable. Since being her student I notice a change in my vocal range, Learning how to sight read and learning piano. She truly is a great teacher and my lessons are very enjoyable.”
